Lana Del Rey (nee Lizzy Grant) on her Coachella snub (above). I want to like her despite what Hipster Runoff etc. are saying about her dubious “trailer park” origins and plumped up lips. She’s a Fordham gal, into Old Hollywood (see her YouTube channel) and channels Nancy Sinatra but…yeah, she comes off a little ditzy and over-sharey in her interviews which kind of spoils the illusion of her (manufactured) persona. Anywho, she’s the musical act on SNL this week and her single Born to Die is free to download on iTunes. If you can get past the mythical origin story put in place to sell records and her subsequent hipster backlash, I think you’ll really dig her sound and music videos.
